i'm really struggling with this one, so please help....
william mcdonald m.1870 sarah marshall gavin, mansfield vic, australia.
william states he is a labourer and was 26, b.1845 tasmania, parents: john mcdonald, farmer and agnes nee mcdonald.
birth cert of son george b.1884 mansfield states age 40, b.1844 tasmania.
death cert 1911, mansfield says 70, b.1841 inverness, scotland (dau is informant).
i can't find a trace of william or his parents prior to marriage in 1870....there are 12 children by sarah gavin, logic dictates one of those births would be more specific with birthplace than "tasmania". but an expensive undertaking. suspecting convict roots, here.
