  • Coroner's death report

    Hi
I have a 5 year old relative who died from accidental burning in 1838. The death cert is signed by a coroner. does this mean there was an inquest? If so, can I get the report? thanks

    Welcome to the forum.

I would think there would have been an inquest. Coroners reports are few and far between. The only thing is to look in newspapers.

If you don't have access to newspapers put the name and area on here and someone will try and help you.

      Welcome to FTF!
You might be lucky enough to find a report but I believe they were not kept for a long time. We usually recommend searching newspapers because they often gave a word for word account of inquests, plus other details they thought would attract buyers. However 1838 is quite early in newspaper history so you may be out of luck. If you'd like to put a name on here someone might be able to find something.
