Irish births

Hello, please could anyone point me in the direction of how to find parents/records of someone born in Ireland in 1881? I haven't looked at Irish records before so not sure if any records exist online? I have found the birth on family search but a further Google tells me MMN wasn't recorded on the indexes until later!
