  • Scottish Electoral Register query

There is probably an extremely simple explanation that I've failed to understand so here goes.........

On Electoral Registers of Aberdeen City and Former Counties of Aberdeenshire 1935 -1936 for Chanonry, St. Machar shows some of the residents' names as having the letter P after the name.

Please could some kind person explain what this letter represents?

Many thanks, stay safe and take care.

P is for persons entitled to vote in Parliamentary Elections only.

Go to the St Machar ward 4 volume and enter page 168 in the set of 584 pages. That will take you to the cover page.

Many thanks, so I presume all the residents with P were over 21 years of age!

Yes. After 1928 you can assume a person male or female and of any marital status is 21 or over.
