Marriage of Neal(Neil) Gallagher to Elizabeth Crosson 11th September 1876
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone can locate any records or documents relating to the above mentioned marriage. It took place in either Philadelphia, Pennsylvania or Oakland, California.
Hi PhotoFamily, thanks for taking the time to look, and especially thanks for responding, even to say you couldn't find anything! I was beginning to think I had been ostracised for some unknown reason.
Regards.
Paul.
Hi Paul, not being ostracised I did look at your post, but have very little overseas skills, and no WW access to Ancestry, so was no help to you.
Not sure if you have WW ancestry - but you can get it via your library at home, the offer has now been extended to December by Ancestry. But Photofamily already checked
I have a full subscription. This couple appear on several trees on Ancestry but no one has been able to confirm where the marriage took place. Most say either Philadelphia, Pennsylvania or Oakland, California, based on documents dating before and after 1876.

You can check to see if this is online, but FS catalog has a listing for an index to an Oakland newspaper that covers your time period: Oakland newspaper index, 1869-1883

There is a biographical book for Oakland and environs, but it doesn't contain your peeps (as far as I can tell). This is Vol II - the first volume is also online:
So, in the 1900, she says she had 8 children, all living, and there are 8 children in the household. I've seen the number of children not include children lost at a very young age, but to me it sounds like they've been accounted for.
Have you tracked Neal in City Directories? Perhaps there's a gap because they married in Philadelphia and he left for CA soon thereafter, and she joined him once he had established the household.
