  • Irish records

    Hi

is there any way I can find out more information about death records in Ireland for later years? Im looking at an obituary for 2016, but I need to find out the year of birth if that is possible so I can trace the parents.

    Many thanks
    Robyne

Since 1922 there have been 2 separate sets of records. One for the Republic of Ireland and the other for Northern Ireland. Neither set of records is routinely available on-line but they are open to the public. If the death you are looking for was in the Republic you should contact GRO Roscommon. If it was in Northern Ireland then contact GRONI in Belfast.

    REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

    https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Appl...tificates.aspx

You can e-mail your order to them and they will e-mail the certificate back to you.

    NORTHERN IRELAND

Contact details for ringing or e-mailing GRONI:

    Phone: 0300 200 7890

If the deceased was married it would be worth getting a copy of their marriage certificate to get the fathers name and occupation to help ensure you identify the right birth.
