Hhmmm, mini rant coming up! Why call something a weekend conference when it is in fact a series of promotional videos for Family Search and 'special offers' for Family Tree magazine?

Was there not a panel discussion and question and answer session?

Yes, and it was interesting but, in my opinion, that doesn't constitute a 'conference'. I'm not objecting to what was offered but I think it should be billed differently. Perhaps I am relating to my previous experience of what 'conference' means and need to re-adjust my perspective.

Ok, it's difficult for me to comment as I have not seen any of the videos or discussion groups. I was invited to take part on one of the panel discussion groups, but due to other commitments, I was not available this weekend. From what I had been told, I kind of had a vision in my head of what it was going to be like, but sorry to hear that your experience wasn't such a good one. Constructive criticism is always a good thing in my opinion, it's better that people point of things and they are addressed, rather than lose the interest of people.
