      That year of birth on her death index is 10 years out !! I have just checked GRO online index as it also has yob as 1915. Myrtle Marian H IRVEN was registered Poole, Dorset 1Q 1925 I looked at the marriage entry from her end and it gives the H as an extra letter in her forenames so that matches the birth right enough.

      Parents Arthur M IRVEN and Susan M HECKFORD married 2Q 1924 Poole, Dorset. Arthur served in the Royal Navy (see below, image is on ancestry). Susan was registered as Susie Margaret and baptised as Susy Margaret. She died young at the age of 36 and is buried at Hamworthy (also from Dorset parish register transcripts). The burial image is on ancestry. Her address at death is the same as that given for Arthur in the probate index image below.

      Dorset parish register transcription has these for the marriage;
      Arthur Macdonald Irven
      Male
      Single
      23
      Marriage
      1901

      Susan Margaret Heckford

          doesn't look like any electoral for Devon available.

          there was another marriage in the 62 in Totnes to Cotzen - did wonder if this was him, divorced maybe?

            William Stephens (brother) has a will, for £1.50 might be worth getting. I assume the Beatrice is his sister, so maybe he mentions other family members

              Thank you so much!!! This is great - I love the picture. I now have a subscription to FMP but can't seem to find these newspaper articles of him. I must be doing something wrong...

                  Myrtle Marian STEPHENS died 26 September 1996 Mendip, Somerset and there is a grant and will proved at Oxford Registry. She was born 1915 so of the same age as John George STEPHENS.
                  Could that be her do you think?
                  I have had a look at that.. it seems to fit but I'm just working on assumptions... I have ordered Jack's death certificate, so hopefully this gives me some more info. Thank you for your help.
