  • MARTHA ADA WALL - Death in Buenos Aires, 1894

I'm trying to trace the details of the death of the first wife of my second great uncle.

Her name was Martha Ada Wall (not sure of her maiden name) and was born June 3rd 1864 in Islington, London.

She died sometime in 1894 in Buenos Aires.... how can I find out more information - will a death certificate be available ?

Again, the superior knowledge of you smart people is requested...

17 public trees on ancestry but not one has an exact date or place of death. Those that do have any info say only 1894, Buenos Aires. No death certs uploaded in any of the tree galleries. This tree gives a fair bit of detail and it would appear that there is a grand daughter still alive - a daughter of the first son. If you have ancestry, you could message this tree owner ncgwood1

Forgot to add, there are copies of her baptism attached to the trees if you don’t already have this.

This should be helpful for sourcing a copy of an Argentinian certificate

Well done Elaine. I am still hopeless at searching newspapers.

Got lucky with just Havinden, after that tried Havinden and New Southgate and her brother's wedding is there as well plus other info Nick might find handy.

Seems from her death announcement that she was known as Ada rather than her first forename of Martha. Her birth registration and baptism are both Martha Ada. The passenger manifest when they set sail for Buenos Aires shows her as Mrs A.M. Walls.

Isn't there a UK BMD overseas index on FMP? Aren't those events also registered and available at GRO? I thought that's where I retrieved my g'grandmother's birth cert.

That’s where I first looked (FMP) but no joy. Will take another look and try wildcards.

                          Nope, still nothing.

Only if they registered her death with the consulate. Some only followed local regulations.
