I have this army record for Jarvis Woodruff

there is a letter - very faded - looking like they made a mistake on his record, not quite sure what, but it looks like 1980 (is it 1930 maybe) - which cannot be as both he and his wife died in the 1940s.

he seems to be in the army with 2 numbers in quick succession, so think maybe there was some confusion. Love the tattoo - this is DHs gr grandfather

It could be either 1920 or 1930. Sorry, no help at all!

Going by the other 3 just visible top left, this looks like an unusual style of 2 but I can’t be 100% certain.

odd - got me fooled as it looked like 1980, flummoxed me. it did say he deserted, so thinking maybe there was something not quite right. Must be 1920, even 1930 is a long time after.
