  • The Importance of Setting Genealogy Goals

My half yearly report, so how did I do???

So here we are, at the half way stage in the year and what a year it’s been! Way back in December, when I set myself my Genealogy Goals for 2020, nobody could have dreamed what 2020 was going…

    The boy done good!!

    https://www.familytreeforum.com/foru...goals-for-2020

I have found that tackling the 52Ancestors challenge spurred me on with what I was doing anyway but more consciously and not allowing myself to get distracted by FTF and other things. In the process it meant I went back to parts of the tree I had researched very early on and have been updating those.

I just looked back at what I wrote before - my own goals to get out more this year didn't work out too well either!!

I wonder how other people have managed with their goals?

That’s very impressive, Paul! I went straight off to find your Podcast but couldn’t find it. There seem to be a few called Fireside Tales but not with your name on them. There’s a thread somewhere for Geneology Podcasts, could you put a link on there, please?
Main research interests.. CAESAR (Surrey and London), GOODALL (London), SKITTERALL, WOODWARD (Middlesex and London), BARBER (Canterbury, Kent), DRAYSON (Canterbury, Kent), CRISP (Kent) and CHEESEMAN (Kent).

I have not really done that much research since the weather improved!

I think I need to read the blog/lists or new records that are released I am sure there are loads more available, and use them. Need a method, the newspapers are growing at such a fast rate it is heard to keep up.

I found last year I definitely lost focus for a number of different reasons, but one was definitely because I didn't revisit my goals during the year, so I am making up for that this year.

Its actually sadly only available to those that subscribe to the Family Tree Magazine digital editions, there are a few extra things like that available to digital subscribers. The FTM podcast itself is free and there are 10 episodes on there.

It's difficult to maintain focus as there are so many other things to do, apparently! But I love a list, it helps keep me on track

I have been listening to the Family Tree ones and enjoy them although I find the title music and the presenters voice a little bit 'fluffy'

its one of those things, we are all learning new skills and trying different things, I think my voice sounds horrendous!!!
