  • Tidying up -lost in 1881

Ann Jefferson Baines was born in Sheffield c1811. In 1839 she married Edward Milburn Abel - they had a daughter Elizabeth in 1842 and a son Edward in late 1851. In 1851 the Abels were in Windle, St Helens, 1861 in North Meols, Southport & 1871 in Eccleston St Helens. Edward Abel was a currier & leather merchant. He died in St Helens in 1874.
I cannot find Ann in 1881 - by this time both children were married, but she was not in either of their households. By 1891 she was in Park Road, Horton, Bradford, where she died in 1896. I think I've gone word blind; can anyone spot widowed Ann Abel/Abell/Able in 1881, please?
    Thanks
    Jay

Thanks for looking, Val. I do have that entry and also the earlier probate for her husband. It's just the 1881 census entry that I'm missing - I even looked through all the residences in Park Road Horton to see if she had moved in there by 1881, but no sign of her. I've got quite a lot of missing census entries for various members of this Abel family and am trying to fill in the gaps, with mixed results.

It was odd as all the other census were coming up... so as she had Jefferson as a middle name? I just figured that with Ann it'll throw up hundreds of hits.. so just put Jeff*** in surname box. I'm guessing that whoever filled the form in must have put it surname first then forenames.. so it would have been Abel. A Jefferson. just a lucky shot
