  • Thomas Robinson Bushell post 1891 death or later census.

After delving a little deeper it seems my Mr Bushell wasn't the executed violent jailbird I thought he was.
Thomas Robinson bastard son of Ann Bushell of Hindringham, a married woman, bap Hindringham, Norfolk, 29th May, 1836.

1841 with mum, siblings and I suspect his father at Hindringham

1851 Walsingham Union Workhouse, Great Snoring:

1861 and 1871 there's a possible match listed by initials (T?B or TRB from memory), at Catton in Norwich (The Norwich Asylum,). Age is right, unmarried, patient and a lunatic though pob is given as India in both returns.

1881 at the new asylum Thorpe St Peter, Norwich, again right age, unmarried, patient, lunatic pob now recorded as Catton

1891 Thorpe St Peter Asylum, this time right age, married and a horse driver,

No sign in later census for initials or name found.

I can't find a marriage 1881-1891 unless it's way over in Fakenham. Whilst there are a few Thomas Bushell deaths in Norfolk post 1891 none seem to really fit. There is one that is close but a matching probate record suggests the death relates to a chap who lived in Norwich and left an estate of close to £800 which seems unlikely to be my Thomas.

I'll have a good look at that one, places are a bit odd but if the 1891 is right with regard to a marriage who knows.
