  • Boer War records

    Hello,
Are there any Boer War records online - NA says there are no significant ones but didn't know if they just meant on their site?
    Thank you

There are some Boer War Records.
The Army Service records show their whereabouts - Mine shows he was discharged in South Africa. He has records from all the following showing service in South Africa.
On Ancestry search UK, Military Campaign Medal and Award Rolls, 1793-1949 for a Queen's South Africa medal and clasps.
Ancestry UK, Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioner Admissions and Discharges, 1715-1925.

Fold 3 has UK, Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioner Soldier Service Records, 1760-1920.

FMP has Anglo Boer War Records 1899-1902 - https://search.findmypast.co.uk/reco...%2fbw%2f279710

and I found this: LS&GC recipients, South African Museum of Military History - scroll down for names at the bottom. This is for Cape Mounted Rifles but at the bottom you can click left or right for different units. - I was looking specifically for The Cape Mounted Rifles and hadn't noticed that before. Great Info on here for the history of the war etc.

You might find some reports in newspapers, I did try and look for someone in my tree but had no luck, but there are reports in there of what was happening. Higher ranking officers get more of a mention.

Ancestry has these - you can search the card catalogue with keywords - they call it second Boer war - my military history is rubbish
