  • Scottish Divorces

Not that I'm looking for any, but while searching the National Archives of Scotland online catalogue, I see it comes up with several matches to 20th century divorce cases.

I was ASTONISHED to discover that two of my Scottish relatives were divorced in the 1800s! (From their second marriage certs)

This was a very well kept secret in my Calvanist family and may explain a rift in the family.

When I looked at a wedding certificate 1955 at the GRO recently

      In the section RCE
Record of Corrected Entries box it said ( Marriage dissolved + date) which was a few years later.

This must have been added to their records when the divorce was finalised.
