Rather than do any housework I decided to put a bit of effort into OH's side which I havent looked at for 5 years
Anyway, of course found a toughie immediately. Can anyone find this lot in 1851 please and any baps? Many thanks.
He has a GGFx2, Henry Charles Cotterell (sometimes Cotterill) born 1818 in Birmingham, a gun maker (Im tackling this one because I remembered OH had no interest whatsoever in dead people until I told him his ancestors were gunmakers which gave him a real smile as his first job was as a gunmaker in London - amazing how genes out) Anyways, I just started looking at this chap again to see what I could find further back on him. Its a pain.
PMSL, when I was looking I was really pleased to find a website with his 1841 census details on it, which I hadnt been able to find at all on ancestry - when I looked, it was my own home page from 2006!! Id completely forgotten about it, shows how you should check and recheck. So at least I have the 1841 census again which shows him as a gun maker journeyman living in Birmingham with wife Mary b 1821 (ish) and a year old son William.
I cant find him in 1851 but in 1859 he married a widow, Sarah Hands, nee Gately. He gave dad as Charles Cotterell, gunmaker.
In 1861 he is in London, Bermondsey apparently with wife, Charlotte ? enumerator mistake?, born Birmingham. (Agnes is OH's direct ancestor)
