  • 1920 US look up, please - what's the place?

I'm looking for Clara Parker, born Nebraska 1895/6, both father & mother born England

I got the following solo hit on familysearch;-

"United States Census, 1920," Clara R Parker in household of Violet Olsen, Oak Park Township, Oak Park Village, Cook, Illinois

NOT SURE that's she's mine, as my Clara could well have been married by 1920.
But the household seems to be large & female - what sort of place is it? Hopefully not a gaol!:D

Thanks for that Elaine - perhaps she was training to be a nurse.

Lots of cook county records online - try familysearch and cookcountygenealogy (link is in the reference section). If she married in Cook county, it might be on familysearch - not sure where their records stop - but cook county gen would have it. But only the index is free with them.

P S - Illinois marriage certs from that time period aren't worth much: it would have names & ages of bride & groom, place of marriage (probably just the city), and the person officiating. Maybe the officiators title & church (don't hold your breath!)

Thankyou, PF, have only just spotted your post.

I've had a look at Cook County on familysearch, but there's nothing late enough showing up.
