  • William Vincent marriage Nottingham

    Hi Everyone

Could I have another look up from Ancestry.

I have Katherine Whitaker widowed in 1645 after about 4 month of marriage and there is a marriage on Family search for William Vincent and Katherin Whittaker on 12 Mar 1654.

This is also on ancestry and wondered if any one could see if it said any more re widow or age or parish etc.

Thanking you and sorry for being a niusence
    Lin

      Thanks Elaine

Was hoping it would say more but never mind

Its so hard when you get back this far and always fear I'm not on the right track

Don't think I will add it to my tree but make a note of it

      Thanks again

if you can get your hands on the original it may have extra info, but being mid 17th century probably not.

given the date, it's likely that the marriage would have taken place before a Justice of the Peace, as required by the Marriage Act 1653, despite being recorded as being at Nottingham St Peter. Clergymen were often appointed as Registrars under the Act and so continued to register marriages in the parish registers as before.

Sorry but not been on here today.

Thanks everyone for the extra help, I'm retiring a the end of the month and hope to get to the archives more often and see what the registers actually say about all the info I am busy looking up on the internet. Love looking at all the originals, well the micro fisches anyway

Just to say hello to Elaine
