  • Missing family on 1891 census FMP

    Hi

I am looking for William George Slater (born 1860, Kings Cross/Clerkenwell/Holborn) and his wife Eliza Jane Slater (born around 1860, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire) and three of their children Lillian (born approx 1885), Ernest W (born approx 1887) and Jack G (born approx 1889, possibly John rather than Jack) on the 1891 census (I am using FindMyPast). I can find the various family members in 1881, 1901 and 1911 and based on the locations that children are born in they should be in either the Holborn/Clerkenwell area or (more likely) Middlesex

I have spent most of the evening searching various combinations of people and spellings with no luck, but looking at Ancestry (I don't have a subscription and have previously used their free trial) it looks like Ancestry may have the census record as I can see the following

    Name: William G Slater
    Spouse: Eliza J Slater
    Other: Bessie and Lillian
    Birth: abt 1860, London, England
    Residence: 1891, Middlesex, England

I don't suppose that one of you could be kind enough to let me know if the Ancestry record is the one that I am looking for?

    Thanks in advance
    Geri

now that I find as odd, its usually Ancestry that have the mangled names and FMP comes thru a treat...

Yes, I searched on the census ref and found the right page straight away. Reported to FMP as a transcription error.

It is a useful census as from 1911 I could see that there had been 8 children, but from the other census information I only had names for 7 of them. This census names the 8th child.

Thank you again for your help
