  • George Humphrey James Chesshire b1854

I need a little help or guidance trying to fine George Humphrey James Chesshire b1854, i have managed to trace him to an extent but cant find him in 1891 or 1901.

I do know that he obtained his master competency certificate in the early 1880's and i have a copy of this and he was visiting friends on the 1881 census. he married in 1898 to lilly stockdale masters and in 1901 she is living with her parents in Dorset with their 1 year old daughter.

I am wondering if he was at sea during these to census' but is there anyway of finding this out or which ship he was at least on at these periods?

Hope someone can help or give me some pointers

http://www.mariners-l.co.uk/UKMasters.html for tracing master mariners in uk . Hi Suzie, I am Sue McKoy nee Chesshire in Melbourne, Australia and I have been researching all Chesshires in the UK for about 10 years with my 4th cousin Geoff Chesshire in Cardiff, Wales UK. I would be happy to share with you the info we have on GHJC and his family. I am wondering if the three of us are related? we have been unable to trace him for 1891 or 1901 but have him in the 1881 and 1901 census, like you. Cheers, Sue & Geoff
