hi guys

I am new to the site and new to this as a hobby.

I wanted to follow the maternal line to start with. Hovever i have only got as far as my grandmother and hit a problem. I can find a death record and a marriage record but no birth record for her.

Her name was Minnie Rebecca Akehurst born 31st July 1913 according to death information.

I want to know who her mother was but cant find any birth record. Any ideas?

Can you just confirm that Akehurst is her maiden name. I can see a death for a Minnie Rebecca Kivinen which I presume is the one you are referring to.

It looks as though you are going to need her marriage certificate to find out her fathers name and whether she was a spinster at marriage.
She would have been about 31 according to the dates.

Ah i cannot be sure there was not another marriage other than to kivinen. So Akehurst may not be her maiden name.

I would agree with Chrissie that you really need the 1944 marriage certificate. I can't see anything likely for her.

Skeleton, you said you are new to this hobby. Do you need any help in ordering the certificate - would advise you apply to the General Register Office - cost will be £9.25
Don't get taken in with other sites for certificates where charges can be £20 or £30 pounds for the same thing.

Minnie was my great aunt and her mother was married three timesx.Aunt Minnie wasn't an Akehurst.She was married to a Canadian Airman who died in WW2 his name was Kiniven

Minnie mother was Ellen Nailard and Ellen's parents were william Nailard and Hannah Huggett. Williams dad was Thomas Nailard.I do have Minnies dad's name and will find it for you
