  • A 'Shingler'

    Can anyone tell me what a Shingler was in Liverpool c1868.
    I used to have a link for old occupations but seem to have lost it.

          Hiya...before we used Felt to waterproof a roof and then batten it and fit the tiles - we used to batten the roof and "Shingle " between the battens (like a mortar compound ) and then fit the Slate onto the battens ....still thousands of properties still shingled and slated here in Liverpool
