i have this photo, and it does have a name on it, but only problem is there are a few in the family with the name......could be english or australian, depending on the time frame. i think it may be 1860's, any ideas?

Photography dates back to about 1840 ish so your guesstimate could be correct given the mans appearance.

your right there alan. i did notice the same coat in a portrait on the net that dated from 1860. the man looks 50 something to me.
