I am having difficulty in transferring data from an older computer to my new one in that when I do a gedcom and put the gedcom disc

onto the new computer the result is that every name etc prints out as PRIVATE.

I realise that when the data was first inputted I used the privacy setting as private (not wishing to allow my hard earned research to finish

up on the web ). As a condition of using the private classification Legacy states that the individual is referred to as private on reports and

exports. All other information is supressed.

Is there any way of overcoming this. Of course I could change the condition to "not private" but I can imagine that this would take quite

    a considerable amount of time.

Can you not copy the Legacy files themselves without doing a Gedcom export? I don't use legacy but with my program I would
    1. Install the program on the new computer
    2. Drag and drop the program files (Legacy ones in your case) onto a memory stick. Stick the memory stick into the new computer and drag and drop the files to their new home.
    3. Start the program (Legacy) and it should find the files.

Thanks Anne, I will give it a try tomorrow and see what happens.
