  • Can anyone find a possible please?

    Hi

1914 William Olive James Jones is born to Constance Beatrice Jones an Accounts Clerk in Queen Charlotte Hospital. From super sleuthing ;) I have managed to deduce that his father was James William Olive an Accountant, and in 1911 he and his wife (not Constance) are living in Lewisham.

I am really struggling with Constance. There are only 4 FreeBMD records for a Constance Beatrice Jones.

The one born in 1894 in Lambeth is this one I believe:

    http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...ki1901&indiv=1 1901

Who then randomly appears with this family in 1911 http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...ngland&indiv=1

However in 1901 next door to James Olive is the Jones family. The father is a clerk and he has a daughter Beatrice

But in 1891 she is listed as Beatrice M and the father is a Victualler.

I cant find any Beatrice or Constances in 1911 that look like they could even become a Clerk let alone actually be one!

    Any ideas?

Thanks Janet that sounds like a possible. what is the likely occupation for a Clerk in a Millinary compared to a Clerk in an Accounts firm? Will get the address from the cert when i go home

Shouldn't think there was a lot of difference, IF you were in charge of filing away customer's accounts or writing out and despatching invoices for services rendered etc ;)

Living at 34b Morat St Lambeth in 1911 was John Murray wife Elizabeth & family. Visiting was 75 yr old widowed Elizabeth Jones.

John Murray & wife had been married for 23 yrs - Married Islington Sep qtr 1888 was a John Blackford Murray. One of the possible wives was an Elizabeth Love Jones.
Don't know if this was significant or not?

By 1914 John Murray had moved to 15 Selborne Rd Camberwell although his qualifying property to vote was 60 Morat St. Occupant of 34 Morat St was Robert Norris & 34a was Richard Atkins.

                      Hi
The info comes from the ERs on Ancestry. Janet is definitely on the right track. The marriage is the right one as John appears as John Blackford Murray on later ERs with 3 of his children named in the 1911 census.
Elizabeth Jones age 75 visitor I believe is Elizabeth Murray's (nee Love Jones) mother.
Born Elizabeth Sinfield in Lidlington Bedfordshire c1836 married a John Jones 1860 Ampthill.
                      Bedfordshire.
Still looking for them in 1861.
By 1871 Elizabeth Jones is a widow & Elizabeth (Love) Jones age 8 born Islington is living with her aunt Love Jones, single age 48 in Wellingborough.
Another possible daughter of Elizabeth & John Jones is Katherine Love Jones born c1865 Islington. In 1871 she is living with her Sinfield grandparents in Lidlington.
Of course there may be other children from the 1860 marriage & this is where Constance Beatrice fits in. Still working on that idea at the moment.

Robert Norris was a Carpet & Lino layer & Richard Atkins was a Taxicab driver, from 1911 census
The house was obviously divided into 3 flats. 34, 34a & 34b Morat St.

Unfortunately you can't check by address.
Both Elizabeth Jones & Elizabeth Murray disappear from the ERs after 1924.
To save you trawling through all the ERs looking for John Murray try looking for their next door neighbour Mary Helen Major at 13 Selborne Rd. There was also a Frederick & Mary Jones living on the other side of the Murrays at 17 Selborne Rd. Could they be related although Jones is a very common name?
