Looks as though Henry Stigston who lived at Beckside owned or had a part share in some land and/or premises occupied by Thomas Hamilton, a tenant. People who were allowed a vote had to "qualify" for their vote by being landowners. People (men of course!) who did not own land or property could not vote.

Looks as though Henry Stigston who lived at Beckside owned or had a part share in some land and/or premises in Fleming Gate occupied by Thomas Hamilton, a tenant. People who were allowed a vote had to "qualify" for their vote by being landowners. People (men of course!) who did not own land or property could not vote. Looks a though he owned the property jointly with William Sigston.
