  • Joanna Coath c1860 born in Greasby, Cheshire.

This lady shows in a 1901 Census RG13/3387/171/3. Census also shows her maiden name in brackets as Joanna Sherlock.
I cant find her birth, marriage or death. Unable to find her in 1911 but she may have died between censuses.
There could be a transcription problem but I would appreciate any help you can give.

Not quite true, surely - it's the Ancestry transcript which shows this. Makes no difference to sorting out your question, though, I'm sure. Except, her mother Eliza Sherlock is in the household - so if Joanna's maiden name has been taken from this it would be wrong if her mother had re-married in the meantime.

The Cheshire Parish Register Project database has a baptism for Joanna Sherlock on 5th August 1855 at West Kirby, Cheshire. Father Joseph (labourer) and mother Eliza. Residence is shown as "GREA" which I assume is Greasby

There is a birth registered Q/E March 1855 Wirral for Johanna Sherlock vol 8a page 384 which could be her

Cheers Jackie. I'd forgotten about Cheshire Parish Register.....so out of touch with Family Researches since I started transcribing.
