  • Help please - 2 marriages.

Would like ANY further info on either of these two marriages, Canongate, Edinburgh.
24.10.1817 William Hay/ Isabella Arkley (I know a little bit further on, but the marriage detail is what I'm after)

William Hay / Mary Mcbeath (daughter of James) 19/5/1803. Anything on this couple would be helpful. Might say the marriage itself is not that easy to find - comes up sometimes on LDS, but not on ancestry.

Possibly find my past may offer something?
    Many thanks Happy days

If you're dealing with Scottish records, you may be better off buying some credits and using ScotlandsPeople?

They are pre-1855 (start of civil registration in Scotland) so will come under OPRs (Old Parochial Records) on ScotlandsPeople. These can be a bit hit or miss in terms of what the church minister chose to record. However, you already know the year and the location, so the initial search will cost you one credit and the image of the register page will cost you 5 credits. And the spare credits stay on the system more or less ad infinitum.

ScotlandsPeople is the official online "branch" of the General Register Office of Scotland (GROS).
