  • Church of St. Peter ad Vincula (Tower of London)

A member of my family was married at St. Peter ad Vincula in the Tower of London around the 1860's. Can anyone tell me, please, which register office I should apply to to get a copy of the marriage certificate.

Just had a google and it appears that the Tower of London didn't come within the City of London, but technically was in Middlesex ??

Can you find the entry in freeBMD - that will tell you the registration district and would be a starting point for finding the register office.

According to Genuki the Tower of London came under Whitechapel and the registers are now held by Tower Hamlets.

You can do a search on their BMD index as well ... http://www.thbmd.co.uk/ordering.php

I may be wrong, but isn't Tower Hamlets one of the ROs which does not issue certs for family history purposes

They do issue certificates OC, in fact they are one of the register offices that have their BMD index on line as well as a downloadable application form. See the link to their website in post #3

Is there any chance that those marriage registers would be amongst the LMA records on Ancestry?
