I can take my paternal family history back to Nathaniel Lane Pass (the 'e' comes and goes!), born c1806 in Plymouth. I haven't been able to find out much about him. He had two spells in prison for larceny and apparently died in 1834, so doesn't appear on census information - the dates have come from IGI records, so may not be entirely accurate.
I would love to know who was Nathaniel's father, but I know this would entail looking through Parish Records and I cannot physically travel down to Devon.
I had thought of writing to the 'Devon Family History Society' - if there is such a body - to ask if anyone had knowledge of the surname, so does anyone know the address to which I should write?
Having had a rest from genealogy for a year, due to ill health in the family and moving house, I am now re-inspired to get going again, renew my A....... sub and dig deeper into some of the mysteries ;).
Any advice will be gratefully received!!
