  • How do you record an ancestor's work product?

    Several instances:
    ** I have two ancestors who were photographers (!). I have many pictures of their family members, but I also have pictures that they took of other people.

    ** I have work-related announcements one ancestor made in newspapers - half dozen or so, different dates.

    ** sequential military postings

    ** directory listings for businesses owned by ancestors

    ** Speeches & work or retirement recognitions

    I don't want to create an "event" for each of these, but I also dislike cataloging them separately.

    I've thought of creating one document with all the newspaper announcements and storing that as one event. I suppose the same could be done with the other groupings.

    Any thoughts?

    I suppose for the businesses, say, - you could put the directory listings as sources and show the business as the occupation. The same for the military postings as that would have been an occupation for the relevant years and the postings the sources.

      Thanks, Margaret - I like the idea - it's similar to the idea I had, but gives me something to hang it on the tree
