Agnes Mary Crosher born 1st May 1906 married in 1929 in Bristol to Kenneth William Edney but I cannot find a death reg for her on Ancestry or on findmypast either.

Yes I've searched for her in England and Wales with no luck.

It doesn't look as though they had any children either. Poor Agnes just seems to have vanished!

Glad it's just not me then!

Yet another family mystery! I shall have to get her hubby's death certificate and see if that shed any light on the subject.

A man's certificate won't say whether or not he was a widower, will it?
At least you will have an address though, so could check electoral lists.

She would only have to be 99 if you are looking at Ancestry wouldn't she? It only goes up to 2005.

A long shot - and I've no credits to check but a free search on Scotlands People brings up one death registration in the name of Agnes Edney between 1929 and 2009

                            The death in Scotland is
1962 EDNEY AGNES DRAKE other surnames BRYNES JEFFREY age 79 District POLLOK, GLASGOW CITY/LANARK

                            Does that help?

Thanks for looking Margaret, but if If Agnes Edney died 1962 aged 79 that would make her birth year 1883. Rec'd her birth certificate yesterday and she was born 1906.

I've searched ancestry for a death an Agnes Mary ?? born 1 May 1906 but nothing is coming up so either:-

her correct date of birth was not known to the person who reported her death and she died with a different surname

or she went abroad and died there.

Have you checked any passenger lists, and have you got the death cert for the husband to see if she was the informant and therefore narrow down the search years.

                                  Margaret

Third option is that she is either still alive, or at least died after 2006. Googling tells me that there are at present over 9000 people aged 100 and over alive in the UK

Yes, you are quite right I was forgetting that the online database only goes to 2006. I guess she would still be alive but 106 is pushing it a bit!

I've ordered her hubby's death certificate to-day so hope that will give me some other info, fingers and legs crossed!

I have searched passenger lists but again can't find anying.

I have had a thought though.

If she died in Bristol during the WW2 bombings and her body was never recovered, would there be a death record?
