In case anyone is interested, Ancestry Canada is offering free access to all world immigration records till end of Monday (Victoria Day in Canada).

Annoying. I sort-of knew about this, but misunderstood the relevant dates, so I've missed it!

Having said that, I think that the name I most want to match up is probably much too elusive for me to trap him that easily! (That's based on extensive research already: both passenger lists and crew lists for the relevant ship, and for all the year, not just the alleged crossing - and looking at names which he mighty have assumed, too.)
Leonard BENNETT, b Handsworth, Birmingham, England, 6 March 1887 (or 1893, or even 1903, depending on what suited him at the time!), later with middle name "Keith". Possible careers in either mechanical stuff, including driving, or retail, having been a tailor's assistant.
