  • Richard Cearns and family missing on the 1891

Hi all, I have the family here on the 1881:

This is the family on the 1901, John is now widowed and his mother is living with the family:

I cannot find the family on the 1891.

Just for reference John Quayle Cearns was born in 1855, in Liverpool
his wife Sarah was born in 1860 in Wolverhampton according to the 1881
Their son Richard Gilmour Cearns was born in 1880.

I would really like to find Sarah on the 1891 if she is alive to pinpoint where she was born as am struggling with her maiden name, marriage says Nicloase and father Thomas and birth certificate of Richard says Nicholas! If I could find her on the 1891 it would really help pinpoint her date of birth and also where she was born. No-one had any luck finding a Sarah Nic????? with a father Thomas from wolverhampton before he marriage in 1879, so am praying 1891 census gives me a slightly different place

    any help greatly appreciated

there is a Sarah Nicholas born 1859 Sedgeley Staffs. which is part of the Wolverhampton district.
          comes under Dudley Register office.

my grandparents down to gt gt gt ones came from that area and their names have come out with various spellings due to the accents.

so Nicholas is a very strong possibility.

Thanks Janet, Yes I do have the certificate, I have tried everything looking for allsorts of variations of Nic????? Doesn't help that Thomas was a labourer! I think it was so common when they couldn't read or write and it was down to the person in charge to write down how he thought the name was spelt!!

            thanks for helping :o
