Wondering if anyone can help me...
My gt. Grandfather's parents were Lydia Caroline Crook and Alfred Ernest Carr. I've been trying to trace the Carr line and as it's a really common name I've had some troubles.
I found Alfred and Lydia's marriage certificate through Ancestry, and it lists Alfred's father as 'Charles Jene Carr' (I can't get the image to upload but I have it attached to Alfred on my tree: http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/197...rson/847227058)
So, I ordered what I was sure was Alfred's birth certificate, and this is where I've got confused.
The birth certifiate lists his parents as 'Emma Carr formerly White' and 'JESSE Carr'. It also lists Jesse's profession as 'Toy Maker' whereas on Alfred's marriage certificate it has 'Carman'.
So I've done a few searches and managed to find Emma and Jesse on the 1901 census (ttp://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&new=1&MSAV=1&msT=1&gss=angs-g&gsfn=Jesse&gsfn_x=NP_NN&gsln=Carr&gsln_x=NS_NP&c pxt=1&catBucket=rstp&uidh=rux&cp=11&mssng0=Emma&ms sns0=White&mscng0=alfred+ernest&mscns0=carr&pcat=R OOT_CATEGORY&h=3099573&db=uki1901&indiv=1
However I can't make out his profession on the census.
I've also found a death register for a 'Jesse Charles Carr' from 1902, reg dist. Camberwell vol. 1d p. 578
I'm not sure whether I HAVE got the right person (does anyone think the 'Jene' on the marriage certificate could possibly be 'Jesse'?) or I've ordered the wrong birth certificate for Albert completely - although everything pointed to this being the right one...
Very confused!
