What sort of information are you looking for Isabella? Have you found them on the census? Do you have their marriage? Are you trying to trace them backwards or forwards?

Isabella, if you check the 1911 census it says that David Taylor was born in Rotherham. At the time of the census he was living in Beighton.

Do you have a subscription to Ancestry? There is a David Taylor born c1889 in Rotherham, shown as being in a Boys Industrial School in York. I wonder if this is your David?

Do you have his marriage certificate as this would give the name of his father which may help to locate him prior to 1911.

I think that the Cyril Taylor you mention wasn't born until 1923 in Rotherham. I also believe this is his death - Cyril Taylor born 11th August 1923 - died July 1984 aged 60 - Rotherham - Derbyshire/Yorkshire vol 3 page 701.

There also appears to be a possible daughter to that marriage in Dec 1927 in Rotherham. She could still be alive so I can't give her name but you can find her easily enough on Free BMD with mmn Christian.

                            ? was Rose married before

Isabella, the marriage certificate for David and Rose should help you move backwards. It will give the name of the father for David, as well as his occupation - which could be vital in finding him in the 1891 and 1901 censuses.

thanks everyone, rose was married before and her husband did not live for very long after their wedding so this is most likely the right one, although i never knew the name of her first husband ,but i do now. They are supposed to have had a son colin but i have been trying to find him under christian/taylor theory may be able to find him under roses first marriage name of broadhead.what was an industrial school about, like a reform school.
