If you know which prison she might be in, you can look them up in the census but the prisoners are only listed by there initials, example Dorothy Brown would be DB and so forth, I have The Genealogist where I could do a look up for a particular prison if you like, but I could only confirm that the initials were present.

Hi Robert
She is listed on the census, Blanche Payne, as being in Wormwood Scrubs, but unfortunately she is one of the few on the page that has no crime next to her name!
I haven't yet managed to find out what she was locked up for though. And there is a chance that she isn't 'mine', as she is listed as unmarried, which doesn't mean she isn't! But there is another Blanche Payne that crops up every now and again so it may be her.
Many thanks

The censuses don't show crimes, they show the prisoner's occupation.
I was wrong on your other thread when I said she was shown as unmarried; I thought it was a U next to her name, but if you look at all the other names on the page, the abbreviation is either M or S (for married or single), so her abbreviation must be M, not U. This may explain why there's no occupation shown; if her husband was reasonably well off, or she had young children, she probably didn't work.
