  • Can anyone find the Hemming family in 1861 please?

In 1851 I have them in Welford, Warks:

Charles Hemming, 45, agricultural labourer, b. North Littleton, Worcs
    Emmeline, 37, b. Marlcliffe, Worcs
George, 15, b. Cleeve Prior, Worcs
Mary, 9, b. Cleeve Prior, Worcs
Charles, 5, b. Cleeve Prior, Worcs
Judith, 3, b. Cleeve Prior, Worcs
Elizabeth, 1, b. Cleeve Prior, Worcs

Here's the link for those with Ancestry ...

but I can't find the family at all in 1861, either as a family or as individuals.

Sometime between 1851 and 1871, Charles Snr dies because on the 1871 census Emmaline is listed as a widow, living with her son Thomas in Welford on Avon, Warks.

Another thing that puzzles me, is that I can find a death for Judith (1862, registration district of Stratford, Warks), but I can't find a registration of her birth in 1846/7 anywhere (Cleeve Prior is in the Evesham reg district). Her christening is on the Family Search website as being at Cleeve Prior on 10 May 1847.

    Can anyone help, please?

    Thanks

The thing that puts me off an Evesham registered death for Charles is the fact that the family were living in Welford, Warks in 1851, and Emmaline and son Thomas are still in Welford in 1871. So, why would Charles go back to Cleeve Prior/North Littleton just to die?

If you see what I mean.

Although, having said that I can't find an appropriate death in any of the likely Warwickshire registration districts for Charles (Snr).

If only we could find them in 1861, that might help to pin them down.

A possibility is that Charles could have been visiting relatives and then took ill and died.

1861 Charles junior could have been married, which also complicates matters :(
            so could his sister Mary.

Don't know about Charles jnr, but Mary didn't marry until 1875, when she married Nathan Gould. Mary is my g.grandmother. In 1871 she's in service in London, so away from the family. Doesn't help much, does it?

I've got George in 1861 and Mary in 1871 (see prev. post), but would really like to find Emmaline +/- Charles snr somewhere.

You're having the same luck as me. I can keep finding the ones I've already got, but 1861 for Emmaline with/without Charles snr is just not happening for me.

                              Thanks kyle.

Ancestry just isn't finding them for me. Is there anyone with FMP who'd be prepared to try to locate them in 1861, please?

Just a thought, but it is possible that the bit of the census they're on in 1861 is "missing", and that would explain why no-one can find them?
