Help! Occupation... I can't read it!!

Please could someone take a look at the occupation of James Davidson please....



I'm trying to locate this man on earlier census records... He is apparently the father of OH's great grandfather (born illegitimately).

It could be a lie I know but I've found a possible in 1851. 27 years before this was written.

I'm actually really having problems with this bloke. :S

I've found a 17 year old Clerk on the 1851 census...... who could be OH's 2x great grandfather... but it's really tough given that James Davidson Jnr was registered as James Sutherland (his mum's name) in 1858. In the Father's Name bit it simply says illegitimate... :(
