  • Who was Charlotte ann Farquharson

I have beem trying to find out about an ancestor of my husband's so that i can fill in gaps in our Family History Book.
Charlotte Ann Farquharson she was my husband's great grandmother's mother
.Her parents were James Farquharson and Helen (maiden name may be Melville) James Farquharson is recorded in the 1841 census as a Minister of the Gospel living with his wife Helen and six children in the Manse at Alford, Aberdeenshire. Charlotte is shown in that census as being in her father's household. Her date of birthis recorded as 15th. May 1871 in Saint James, Jamaica, the Caribbean. Perhaps her father was a missionary in Jamaica,

She had an illigitemite daughter Eliza McLarty, with John McLarty a Customs and Excise man but they were never married. Eliza McLarty was born in 1841 in Cluny Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Later census forms show Charlotte as a lodger in 1851 with a family Wilson in Dorsell? Alford, but no mention of the child Eliza.

It appears that Charlotte may have married later to a Mr. Allan?

The daughter Eliza married Alexander Bisset on 11th Nov. 1860.

They had a daughter called Eliza Bisset who married a cattle dealer called Arthur McAllan on 19th Jan. 1884.

They also had a daughter called Charlotte Ann Farquharson Bisset,born1881 who died 23rd. April 1968, married name Ryan.

No other details re. Charlotte's marriage or her death.

I have come up against a brick wall with this one and I am hoping someone out there can fill in some of the gaps ie. What happened to John McLarty? Any details about him or his parents or his date of death would be helpful.
    Hope someone can help

Just had a quick look at Charlottes birth reg on familysearch and it lists her parents as William and Charlotte Farquharson not James and Helen. As the 1841 census doesn't give relationships you cannot tell from that how they are related. Perhaps Aunt and Uncle??

These two Williams would be very young to marry in 1812

I see you have asked this question before. You still appear to think that James and Helen are the parents of Charlotte despite the answers to your previous question on this thread.

Just filling in the details, what does the parish register say? Some ministers could be forthright when recording illegitimate births.
