  • Find My Past Blog - Get help with understanding your old photos

Do you have old family photos that you’d like to know more about? If so, you’ll be excited to hear about our new series of ‘Ask the photo expert’ blogs from our photo-dating expert, Jayne Shrimpton.Jayne is an internationally recognised photo detective, portrait specialist and dress historian who will analyse and interpret your photos each month. You may remember the fantastic series of blogs that Jayne wrote for findmypast.co.uk last year in which she explored many fascinating photo-dating subjects.Jayne Shrimpton
If you’d like Jayne to study your photos, email them to casestudies@findmypast.co.uk with ‘Ask the photo expert’ in the subject line. Please scan only your photo, not the whole scanner plate, as this results in a tiny picture that’s too small for Jayne to work from. It will help Jayne if you can also send us the back view of the card mount, where relevant. Jpegs are preferable to PDF or TIF files.
Jayne only has time to look at two of your photos each month, so please be aware that we can’t guarantee that yours will be picked. We’ll publish the two chosen photos, along with Jayne’s analysis, here on our blog every month.Make the most of this unique opportunity to get advice from a photo-dating expert!
