  • Percy Frank Wadham, Isle of Wight

Good evening folks. More book research.
Another one here to dig into.

I believe Percy was born in 1874. He married (who?) in 1901.
They had a son Walton Wadham, born 1903 (as Percy was another fishing tackle maker I wonder if he named his son after Izaac? - we'll never know, probably,...but I may suggest it..)
    Died 1945

Can anyone check and fill in a few dates, and residences, other children.............and any other random information please?
He was the owner of the Dreadnought Casting Co Ltd in Newport I o W with a Mr A Percy Scott (maybe the one born 1873 IoW?)

    Sincere thanks
    Brian

It seems he married Lila Fanny Watts and by 1911 had another son, Roy born about 1905.

You beat me to it Elaine!

                            Thanks Bob.

I wonder if "Naturalist" was a paid occupation, post grad research, or a hobby

Edit, answered my own question - LINK, 6th para.

The Wadham family are very well known on the Island. Had furniture stores in Newport. My OH and I used to love going in there.

Looks as if Percy was into Fishing. See this article near the bottom of the page - Percy Wadham.

Not a book as such. It is a monthly booklet that comes free through the door. It is full of adverts and most end up in the bin! Does have the odd snippet of useful info though.

Thanks Wendy, the book I'm researching is about people who were fishing tackle makers, innovators, influential etc.
Do you know if the house "The Lindens" still exists? - Google failed me

In 1891 his occupation was upholsterer's assistant (along wth brothers Sidney and Herbert) at Ludhoe? Lodge, Carisbrooke Road.
In 1881 the family were living at 1 St John's Terrace.
Under the column "Employer, worker or own account" he has put "own a/c" which today would mean self employed. But as he was still living with his parents it may have been a hobby.
