  • Quick question about old wills

The will is dated Nov 1779. Sworn to by one of the executors on 1/3/1787.
    Recorded 20/8/1787.

It was made in Antigua by a British person so probably same as British wills. Does it mean that she actually died around the date it was sworn to or recorded?

    Thanks.

Probably, but you can never be sure. A will is sworn at probate I think and that could have been many years after she died, the delay being for various reasons.

I would think though that generally, a will goes to probate pretty fast after someone dies.
