Windows live mail problem

I have had this problem for only two days. My emails wont leave the Outbox. When I went into "accounts"-"servers"- I found the box after "outgoing mail" reads SMPT, should it read SMTP please, I have been affraid to change it. Will this be the cause of my problem . If not any ideas please. It must be easy.
