  • Eliza POSNETT b. 1867

I am trying to tie up a few loose ends,

I have Eliza POSNETT as daughter to John POSNETT and Eliza POSNETT (nee HOLMES) b. 1867 Leicestershire (mountsorrel)

    1881: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...ki1881&indiv=1

Source Citation: Class: RG11; Piece: 3151; Folio: 9; Page: 12; GSU roll: 1341751.

I know that I have found her in previous census as on one she gives her POB as Warwickshire, I can't find any trace of her other than the 1881 cens.

does anyone have time to have a look please.

    many thanks

I have John/Eliza from 1881 onwards and their respective deaths/probate dates, Eliza does NOT appear with them after 1881.

No, sorry, think I've found that Eliza in the 1891 Census in Blaby - married to Arthur M. Cox and mother Mary Possnett.

        Hi Kirsty,

I am not sure what happens to her, I can't even seem to find a likely birth ref.. seems odd that she just vanishes!

I think this may be the parents in 1871 but Eliza isn't with them

            Transcribed on Ancestry as Hosnett

Thank you Jackie, that IS them, am pretty sure they are living next door to the Benistons.. they are a family that married in to the Holmes' (Elizas MN) so in theory Eliza the daughter should be about 3 and has to be somewhere, doesnt she?

I'm wondering whether she was actually their daughter. I can't find an obvious marriage or death for her. If she was their daughter they only seemed to have had the one child which would have been unusual.

Is this the elder Eliza on 1911 as a widow?

If so, she has completed the bit about marriage and children although its then been crossed through, presumably because she was a widow. She has said that there were no children of the marriage

Mountsorrel came under Barrow (Barrow on Soar) Julie. There is a birth of an Eliza Holmes in Barrow in June 1867, could this be her born to an unmarried sister possibly?

there is another Holmes family in MS at this time as well, she I think, belongs to them, I have accounted for all the other sisters I think.

Elizas parents have 6 children, though, there are gaps where others could've been born, we have

                                Joseph Holmes b. 1836 d.1897
                                Eliza b.1839 d.1930
                                Sarah b. 1842 d.??
                                John b. 1845 d.1910
                                Frances b. 1848 d. 1865
                                Isaac b. 1858 d. ???

I spose that there could be a child/ren born between Joseph & Eliza and then between Frances/Isaac, Though I have not found any births in Whitwick that would fit, as I have been through the Prs. (am pretty sure that they were methodists too)

it is them but not the 1861, John will be single in this census, as he marries Eliza in '62
