Can you give some details of where you have found it on the 1871 census. Might be helpful to see which enumeration district it appears in.

This link takes you to the census for the District Convent and Orphanage of the Faithful Virgin. Address given as All Saints district, Norwood.
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/Browse/View.aspx?dbid=7572&path=Surrey.Croydon.ALL.Convent+and+Orphanage+of+the+Faithful+Virgin.1
No idea if it's the one you are looking for!

There are certainly some common names between the 1881 census I have given you and the 1871 census, so it could well be the same place.
