Am I correct in thinking the profession of John Druce is Pedler?

John Druce's occupation looks like 'Dealer' to me (could be similar to being a pedlar)

My opinion would be that you would use "pedlar" for street sellers - but a dealer may be a shopkeeper, or a person who "trades" in different commodities.

Can you find him on a census to compare the occupation?

Edit - sorry Jen, thought you were asking whether a dealer is the same sort of occupation as pedlar!

Thank you everyone, I didn't think the first letter was a 'P' and thought the 'a' looked more like a 'd' so couldn't get Dealer from it. But I will take your word....makes more sense and he was probably wanting to appear more prosperous than he may have been anyway lol!

No Elaine and not likely too. He was the father of a 60 yr old widower who married my 43 yrs old gg grandmother who was also a widow.
