I've hit a brick wall looking for Reginald Victor Hiatt

I know when he was born, when he died and where he is buried. All in Coventry so didn't seem to move around much.

Can't find any record of him on 1911 or 1901 census.

Where and what could i be doing wrong.

    Hi and welcome to FTF.

What year of birth do you have for Reginald and who else would you expect to see him living with - please give names years of birth and place of birth.

Also what was his occupation and can you confirm his name is HIATT?

Have checked the address they were at in 1901 in the 1911 and they are not there - can't seem to find them at all in 1911!

                I can't see them in 1911 either!
There is a possible death for the mother Amy - 1909 Coventry, aged 43.

Can you confirm we have found the right people please now that you have had chance to look at the 1901 census and the other results that we have found for you.

Nothing is showing in 1911 so we need to have some idea of family circumstances to see if that will give any clues to where they might be found.

I searched Ancestry for any Victor aged 17 in Coventry but in fact they had his name transcribed correctly FMP have him as Victor Heatt. His father Frederick was also boarding there.

Well done Judith - I couldn't see it either.
Doesn't help that place of birth has been transcribed as Kenarth, Wards - when it should be Kelinworth, Warks! (or Kenilworth might have been better!)

The baptism link on reply 5 from Elaine actually reads Amy Jane Hiatt and has been mistranscribed. I believe this is the parents marriage - Frederick Hiatt to Amy Jane Slater - April-June 1889 - Coventry ref 6d 710.

It would seem that mothers age was more accurate at death in 1909 than it was in 1901 census. The most likely birth for her is - Amy J Slater - Oct-Dec 1866 - Warwick ref 6d 491.

The Mrs Leeson on Margarets post 9, that he was discharged from the army to, appears to be Alice Elizabeth Slater, who married Frederick Leeson in 1890. Probably his aunt (sister to his mother).

Thanks for that Chrissie - I thought there might have been a connection as he gave the name of Mrs Leeson on his army papers and I didn't hink he would have done that if he was simply a paying guest in her house.
