  • Sources & Repositories

I know this sounds stupid but I've never actually used the sources & repositories sections of my tree software...

I tend to keep my own list of references etc seperately on my pc.

I've finally decided to bite the bullet and integrate it but I'm confused.

What information do you include in a Repository? The RO would be pretty self explanatory I should imagine... Name & Address. but what would you put for BMD & Census records?

And the same for a source? Do you create an individual source for each bmd record/census record etc? Or can you create a "good for all" one?

Oh, and do you create sources for yourself and close family members? Presumably, generations to come will want to see them... ;)

For bmd index info I have a generic source - eg GRO birth index, then under the "where within source" section list details -eg 1882 Mar Islington 1b 310
