  • 1841/1851 census Look ups please!

    Hello
I have done a lot of research on the internet and have been quite successful, however 2 pieces of information have elluded me!

1841 census, Joseph Farrow was born 1816 in Paris. I know that he was married in 1839 to Jane, (b1813 Scalford Leicestershire) and he had a son Thomas who was about 5/6 months old in 1841. Joseph was living in Asfordby in 1841 but I can`t find his wife anywhere.

1851 census Eliza Alsop (b 1818, Stockport) was Living in Manchester with her sisters, Lavinia and Alice. I know that she had a son, Alfred (b1844 Manchester) but I can`t find him anywhere.

Is there anyone who can find them for me please!!

    Thanks Mariette

        Could this be them:
        Address: Cinderhill, Nuthall
        1841 Census
        FARROW, Thomas
        BASFORD, Nottinghamshire
        HO107 piece 860 folio 3/10 page 15
        Poole John 20 Nottingham
        Poole ELiza 20
        Farrow Jane 25
        Farrow Thomas 3

Thomas looks to be too old here, unfortunately.

that is the same one I found Elizabeth, the Poole family have been mistranscribed as PRATE on ancestry, but most of them were born out of county, I couldnt see a Thomas in leicestershire in 1841.

Sorry, Mariette, I meant to follow up and post another reply suggesting a family connection.
I'm so pleased you have found them. IT was promising having a Jane and a Thomas together.

                    Mariette,

when you say you can't find Alfred Alsop, do you mean in a specific census? or a Birth/marriage/death ref? I have found him in 1861/71 etc and his marriage to Annie FARROW in 1872

                    Name: Alfred Alsop
                    Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1872
                    Registration district: Manchester
                    Inferred County: Lancashire
                    Volume Number: 8d
                    Page Number: 783

                        Hi
I know all about him apart from where he was in the 1851 census. His mother was in Machester living with her sisters. In 1851 he would have been 6. I know he was illegitimate as his surname in the same as his mothers, she wasn`t married. ( He later becomes famous in Manchester for poor relief and wrote several books to raise money, I have copies of 4 of them)
